It's an IRC channel so filled with talent, that Microsoft itself uses its resources for help with their source code. Wired mixes in some uber-geek ideology here, but the underlying them is very interesting. Can the (non-commerce) Internet be boiled down to "communities" (whatever we define those to be) like this one? This article reminded of elements the LED shares. Also -- post some new topics you'd like to discuss! Have a great week, Adam ===== CONTINUING ================================= From: Renee Kennedy Subject: Site search On the topic of site search, has anyone found a good search engine that will spider any site that we want it to? For instance, we'd like to provide search for a select group of web sites. We want the engine to only spider and index the sites that we choose. We are currently using WebGlimpse, we have looked at several others, but have not found exactly what we're looking for. There are hosted versions and versions that you would need to install on your own server. The hosted versions look very expensive. WebGlimpse we installed on our own server, but it is probably not robust enough. We need something that will index hundreds of thousands of pages and that brings up good results. Any ideas?
