Hi LEDers,

I have a topic that I'd like to bring up because I'm looking at
trying to do something in this space. I'd like to know what
experiences (good or bad) other people have had with building and
monetizing niche community websites (or blogs).

I'm not really talking about sites like Craigslist or MySpace which
have become more like tools, rather I'm interested in sites more
along the lines of joshreads.com or bluesnews.com or even
slashdot.com.

What makes these sites sticky? What features do people use? And how
do you convert an audience interested in your daily content into
some kind of cash flow?

Any and all ideas welcomed!

Ian Smith

Subject: Internet marketing - Where to start?

Hi,

I am setting up a new website to sell maternity wear. I don't know
where to start to get people to come to my website.  Any
suggesitions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello fellow LEDers

My son will be running for the Green Party as a member of the
National Assembly in upcoming provincial by-elections here in
Quebec, not yet called, but likely in early December.

His riding has about 40,000 people, a mix of city demographics and a
history of voting Liberal, although the race has become increasingly
closer over the years.

His party has the usual site, but I would like to know if anyone has
any suggestions as to how I could help him with a separate web site
devoted entirely to his election. I would start the build at the end
of October and have 4-5 weeks for it to produce results.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have used a search engine from Fluid Dynamics Software Corporation
that works really well. The URL to their site is http://www.xav.com/

The Fluid Dynamics Search Engine (FDSE) will index any site or sites
that you choose.

Subject: Google Natural Listings

Sometime this morning (Monday) my website
http://www.designerdiscount.co.uk (Est. 1999) dropped in the Google
natural listings from about number 6 to somewhere that I can't even
find!  It has constantly been appearing at around number 6 for the
last two years or so and now, I just can't find it! Anyone have any
suggestions why this may be and how I can get it back?? Thanks in
advance,

Sanjeev Sachdeva
