I've canceled my social networking accounts so that only LinkedIN remains (I figure it might help me land a new job someday). I'm still on Twitter but could see myself abandoning it soon. I wonder if this is a trend? Regarding blog aggregators, the page I visit most frequently is popurls.com. It will seem like a lot of noise at first, but you can customize the layout and content quite a bit. BoingBoing and TechCrunch are included among the feeds. Piece of cake to set up - creates xml sitemaps during the index. Timely response to questions from the developer. If you want to see exactly what I mean go to: www.Instant-Webpage-Editor.com/demo.htm To setup an editable area on a webpage you only have to add a single line of code to the page. The editor is hosted remotely. I have used the excellent FCKEditor as the editing component. My clients like the service because it is easy to use (go directly to the webpage and edit it) and there is no database to setup, or software to install or maintain on their site. The main drawbacks are the fact that the editable content is hosted on the third party site with the editor, and the content is not very search engine accessible. I would be interested to hear opinions about this approach to content management. Regards, Paul Johnston instant-webpage-editor.com -------- new post - new topic -------- From: Anthony Kirlew Subject: Flash SEO Everyone's got an opinion, right? My initial thoughts were similar to Adam's [ http://www.led-digest.com/content/view/2048/190/ ]. I don't see a problem in "cloaking" if you intention is not to deceive the search engine, but to tell it what the site is about, or literally what the flash says. The real question is "can the SE's tell the difference?" The second part of this to me is that I always tell people, you can use Flash if you want to as long as your marketing / advertising / branding strategy includes more than just SEO. If they've got a huge PPC budget and want to excite themselves with Flash - go for it! I do let them know that most flash really annoys people that are searching and looking for stuff online. Most people are looking for answers when they search, not a show. I don't know about you, but when I want results, I want results, not to sit and wait for a flash image to load in anticipation of being entertained.. Lastly, there is giving the user the HTML vs. Flash option which works well, and preferably with HTML as the default so as to maximize the sites position in the SE's. My 2.0 cents.
