I enjoy posting on the LED, since it is one of the few lists I've gained enormously from. It is almost a committment to give back to this wonderful online community a fraction of what I've received from it. A recent e-mail exchange with a reader of LED set me thinking about my relationship with this wonderful forum. Here's how it went: "Dr.Mani, thank you for your interesting post on the LED ... As an MD, how do you find the time to post on the list ?"I responded with my usual stock answer - which is the truth, incidentally ;-) "Simple. I don't sleep!"But this time, I sat back for a moment to think about it again. Why do I cut down on my sleep to post on LED? Here's what I realized: LED has GIVEN me - more than ten times over - what I have contributed to it. That's why.
My association with this digest started in August 1996. That was when I signed up for the LE Banner Exchange and came to hear about the LED. Luckily! Today, after three years, I can honestly say that of everything I have learnt about the Internet - setting up a website, promoting it, generating revenue off it, and all else - at least ONE THIRD was learnt from this list alone! This vibrant, joyous, interactive, polite and friendly online community has taught me more than *any other* discussion group, book or newsletter about succeeding in my online activities. By reading the many instructive, illustrative and insightful postings, product or service reviews, techie tips and tricks, I have learnt about cutting edge technology, strategy and breaking developments in the oh-so-quickly evolving arena of the Internet. It has given me (as it gives you) an edge over anyone else on the Net, making each one of us a LEADER. Best of all, it is moderated by one of the finest human beings I've come across in my years online. In turns witty, charming, tireless, encouraging, optimistic, knowledgeable - and always positive - the indefatigable Mr.Adam Audette has ensured that this list (as very few others do) has a very high ratio of relevant posts. There's more wheat than chaff on LED, and that means a lot to a professional like me who has precious little time to spare on a hobby-turned-passion - my website! Sincerely Dr. ManiDrMani.com |
