LED Digest logo This is a large site and it's growing every single day. A visit here can be daunting at first, with so much great content packed into the archives and resource pages (a depth of information barely hinted at by the minimal front page). However, you've come to the right place. This short how-to will make it easy and convenient to visit the LED Digest's home on the Web and efficiently use the resources.

To start, make sure you bookmark this page. Type CTRL+D in Firefox or Internet Explorer now. This will add the site to your bookmarks, making it easy to visit again.

If you haven't already, be sure to read the FAQ page for how the LED Digest works and the welcome message for what it's all about. When you're familiar with the way this email discussion list works, come back here and continue.

This site can basically be split up into two major sections: the archives and everything else. The archives are organized by the publishing year as well as by topic. Each year, between 150 and 250 issues of the LED Digest may be published. This screenshot shows the yearly listing for 2006. [screenshot coming soon]

The Topics section is an organized archive in threaded format. Threaded means that each discussion topic includes all the posts pertinent to that thread. For instance, a discussion on "Defining SEO" may run for 6, 7, or more issues of the LED Digest, with each issue published on a separate day. The topic threads have all the responses on one or more pages and are very focused and information-rich. Use these to advantage in your research, they are a goldmine of information. In each example given above, a table listing is shown. This list has a few handy options you can use to narrow your selections and help navigate the content. At the top is a Filter input box. If you type in a string that's published in the title of any LED Digest published this year, you'll get a list of returned with matches. For example, if you remember a great post from, say, issue 2101 of the LED, type that number into the filter box. See that? The result comes up in the table list. [screenshot coming soon]

You can also sort the order any number of ways, for instance by date ascending or descending, by title ascending or descending, or by the default ordering. The drop-down furthest to the right allows you to limit or extend the total number of results shown.

Next, look at the bottom of the table listing. See those navigation arrows? Those allow you to move through the issues or topics in batches.
